Marin Olympic hopes were dashed by injury
Carolina Marin’s bid for a second Olympic gold medal was heartbroken when she was cut short by injury at the 2024 Paris Games. Ma was on the verge of victory in her match against China’s He Bingjiao with a 10-6 lead in the second set when she injured her knee.
Despite her efforts to continue the match and clearly struggling for a few points, Ma had to exit the semi-final 21-14 10-8. It was a tragic end to the Spaniards’ brilliant record at the Games.
Unfortunately, this injury means that Carolina Marin will not be able to compete in the bronze medal match tomorrow.
