Pablo Abian

Character Introduction

Pablo Abián (born June 12, 1985) is a male badminton player from Spain, specializing in men’s singles.

In 2008, Abián represented Spain at the Beijing Olympics, where he was eliminated in the first round by Kestutis Navickas of Lithuania.

In March 2010, Abián competed in the Poland International, where he won the men’s singles title by defeating Japan’s Yuki Saeki 2-0 (21-12, 21-10) in the final. This victory marked his first International Challenge title in men’s singles.

In 2012, Abián represented Spain at the London Olympics. In the men’s singles group stage, he first defeated Czech Republic’s Petr Koukal 2-1 and then lost 0-2 to Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat, finishing second in his group and failing to advance further.

In June 2013, Abián won the silver medal in men’s singles at the Mediterranean Games held in Mersin, Turkey.

In June 2015, Abián competed in the European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he won the gold medal in men’s singles by defeating the tournament’s 8th seed, Denmark’s Emil Holst, 2-0 (21-12, 23-21) in the final. This was his first European Games gold medal.

In February 2017, Abián finished as the runner-up at the Austria Open, losing 1-2 (10-21, 21-12, 11-21) to the 2nd seed, Japan’s Kanta Tsuneyama, in the men’s singles final.
