Stefani Stoeva

Character Introduction

Stefani Stoeva (Bulgarian: Стефани Стоева, born September 23, 1995) is a Bulgarian female badminton player. In her youth, she won the 2013 European Junior Championships in both women’s singles and women’s doubles, with her sister Gabriela Stoeva, becoming a double champion at that event. The Stoeva sisters reached a career-high world ranking of 8th in women’s doubles on November 8, 2018.

Stefani Stoeva, together with Gabriela Stoeva, won the Women’s Doubles title at the European Badminton Championships in 2018. She was also a gold medalist in women’s doubles at the inaugural European Games in 2015, partnering with Gabriela Stoeva. In team events, she was a key player in helping the Bulgarian national badminton team earn medals in the European Badminton Team Championships.

In 2004, Stefani Stoeva began playing badminton at a club in Haskovo, introduced by a friend. By the age of 10, she and her sister Gabriela Stoeva won the national women’s doubles championship, after which she began professional training.

In November 2011, Stefani Stoeva won her first international series title in women’s singles at the Hungarian International Badminton Tournament, defeating Denmark’s Camilla Sørensen 2-0 (23-21, 21-14) in the final.

In May 2011, she competed in the Bulgarian Open Badminton Tournament, finishing as the runner-up in women’s singles, losing 1-2 (17-21, 21-18, 10-21) to the 3rd seed, Belarusian Alzbeta Zaitsava. She also won her first international series title in women’s doubles with Gabriela Stoeva, defeating Rumiana Ivanova and Dimitria Bozhkova 2-1 (15-21, 21-14, 21-11) in the final.

In March 2013, she represented Bulgaria at the European Junior Badminton Championships in Ankara, Turkey, winning both the women’s singles and doubles titles.

In March 2015, Stefani Stoeva and Gabriela Stoeva competed in the Orléans International Challenge, finishing as runners-up in women’s doubles after losing 2-1 (22-20, 16-21, 9-21) to England’s Heather Olver and Lauren Smith.

In March 2018, they won the women’s doubles title at the Orléans Masters, defeating France’s Delphine Delrue and Lea Palermo 2-0 (21-8, 21-14) in the final of this Super 100 event.
