In August 2013, Dieter Domke participated in the World Badminton Championships held in Guangzhou, China, competing in the men’s singles event. In the first round, he defeated Czech player Jan Fröhlich 2-0 to advance, but in the second round, he was eliminated by the 7th seed, Vietnam’s Nguyễn Tiến Minh, losing 0-2 (22-24, 17-21).
