Xiaodong SHENG

Character Introduction

Sheng Xiaodong (born January 19, 1998) is a former member of the Tianjin Badminton Team and, since 2018, a Canadian men’s badminton player.

Sheng Xiaodong was originally a member of the Tianjin Badminton Team. As a child, he was weak and prone to illness, so his parents introduced him to badminton to improve his health. He began training in badminton at a youth sports school in 2005. He is currently signed with Kawasaki International Club and has received guidance from coach Li Mao.

In August 2011, Sheng Xiaodong won the runner-up position in the boys’ singles event for his age group at the National Youth Badminton Championship held in Yichang, Hubei. In the same year, he earned a spot on the China National Youth Badminton Team by finishing as the runner-up in a selection tournament held in Jinjiang, Fujian.

In 2013, at the National Youth Badminton Championship, Sheng Xiaodong won the boys’ singles title and, together with Xu Linhan, also secured the boys’ doubles championship.

In September 2017, Sheng Xiaodong represented Tianjin at the 13th National Games of China in badminton.

In March 2018, he represented Canada for the first time in international competition, finishing as the runner-up in the men’s singles final at the Jamaica International Badminton Tournament, where he lost to his teammate Jason Anthony Ho-Shue. Later that month, he claimed the men’s singles title at the Giraldilla International Badminton Tournament.
