European Losses Mads Christophersen had a perfect start to the day, winning his Round of 16 qualifying match. However, he ultimately lost in a tough three-game battle against Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan. Other European players who were defeated on the first day include Mads Vestergaard/Daniel Lundgaard, Polina Buhrova/Yevheniia Kantemir, Christo Popov/Thom Gicquel, Oleksii Titov/Yevheniia Kantemir, Christopher Grimley/Matthew Grimley, and Alexander Dunn/Adam Hall.
Today’s Winners Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova secured two victories today, moving one step closer to the main draw of the Super 500 tournament, which would be a significant achievement for the Ukrainian player. Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva dominated their first match, easily defeating Hong Kong’s Yuen Sin Ying/Ng Tsz Yau in straight games (21-15, 21-10). Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen also had a comfortable win against Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
