Shon Seung Mo
Character Introduction
Son Seung-mo (Hangul: 손승모, July 1, 1980) is a retired South Korean men’s badminton singles player who graduated from Wonkwang University and was coached by Lee Mok during his playing days.
Son Seung-mo played in the men’s team final of the 2002 Asian Games and won the title by defeating Indonesia’s Taufik.
At the 2003 World Badminton Championships, he knocked out China’s Chen Hong in the men’s singles quarterfinals before losing to Malaysia’s Wong Choong-han in the semifinals to finish third in the tournament.
In the men’s singles at the 2004 Olympic Games, Son became the first South Korean to reach the final of the men’s singles at the Olympics, but lost 0-2 to Indonesia’s Taufik and finished second.
After that, Sun Seung Mo had no more outstanding performance, and in 2008, because of the world ranking is too low to participate in the Olympic Games.
After his retirement, he joined the coaching staff of the Korean national badminton team as the men’s singles coach
