Axelsen Looks Ahead to 2024: Hopes to Defend Olympic Gold

The biggest event in badminton this year is the Paris Olympics, and the current dominant force in men’s singles, Denmark’s world champion Viktor Axelsen, recently expressed his hope to win gold and achieve back-to-back Olympic titles in Paris.

Axelsen triumphed at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, securing his first Olympic gold medal. In recent years, he has been unbeatable, reigning supreme in the badminton world, and last year he impressively clinched seven titles.

As he turns 30 this week, Axelsen shared his aspirations for the new season on his social media platform, stating, “My goal for 2024 is to achieve high-quality training, but I need to adopt a balanced approach to prepare for the Olympics.”

Axelsen candidly admitted, “Honestly, I haven’t truly reached my peak since the Tokyo Olympics, so my goal is to do my best to achieve the same in Paris. It’s an honor to embark on this journey.”
