Eom Hye Won
Character Introduction
Eom Hye-won (Korean: 엄혜원, September 8, 1991) is a South Korean female badminton player. Her duo with Jang Ye Na, ranked fifth for the highest WBF ranking on April 25, 2013, won the second place in women’s doubles at the World Championships as well as the third place in mixed doubles (2013) with her two main partners Jang Ye Na and Shin Baek Che.
In July 2008, Yim Hye-won represented South Korea at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, helping South Korea win second place in the mixed team in the first team event, and second place in the mixed doubles with partner Kim Ki-jung in the mixed doubles final, losing 1-2 (21-14, 15-21, 22-24) to Zhang Nan/Lu Lu of China. In October of the same year, she again represented Korea at the World Junior Badminton Championships in Pune, India, and helped Korea win the second place in the Mixed Team in the first team event, and the third place in the World Youth Championships with her partner Kim Ki-jung.
In August 2011, Eom Hye-won represented Korea to participate in the World University Games held in Shenzhen, China. In the individual event of the World University Games, she and her partners Jang Ye-na and Shin Baek-che won the gold medals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles respectively, and became the double champion of this year’s World University Games.
In September 2011, Yan Huiyuan and her partner Gao Sung-hyun competed in the Chinese Taipei Badminton Golden Grand Prix, and won her first career international title in the mixed doubles final with a 2-1 (24-22, 16-21, 21-17) victory over the top seed of the tournament, Indonesia’s strongest class of Tontowi Ahmad/Liliana Nasir, which was also her first Golden Grand Prix mixed doubles title. In December of the same year, in December of the same year, she competed in the Korean Badminton Golden Grand Prix with her two partners, Zhang Yena and Shin Baek Che, respectively, defeating the tournament’s No. 3 seeds, Lee Shohi/Shin Seung-chan, 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) in the women’s doubles final, and Ryu Yeon Seong/Jang Yena, the tournament’s top seeds and teammates, 2-1 (11-21, 21-18, 25-23) in the mixed doubles final.
In August 2013, Yan Huiyuan participated in the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, and won the second place in the Women’s Doubles at the World Championships after battling through three sets in the final to defeat the tournament’s top seeded team of Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang of China 1-2 (14-21, 21-18, 8-21) while in the Mixed Doubles, she and Shin Baek Che were defeated in the quarterfinals by the tournament’s top seeded team of Xu Chen/Ma Jin, 0-2 (15-21, 17-21). , Xu Chen/Ma Jin of China, and eventually tied for third place in the mixed doubles with Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei of China.
In November 2014, Yan Huiyuan and her partner Yanxing Liu competed in the China Badminton Premier Superseries, and won the second place in the Mixed Doubles final, defeating the top seeds of the tournament, Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei of China, 1-2 (25-23, 14-21, 18-21).
In September 2015, Yim Hye-won and her partner Hyung Rye-kyu played in the Thailand Badminton Golden Grand Prix and won the Golden Grand Prix Mixed Doubles title after defeating the tournament’s No. 3 seed and Indonesian powerhouse Praveen Jordan/Debbie Susanto 2-1 (21-19, 17-21, 21-16) in the Mixed Doubles final.
In November 2018, Yim Hye-won and partner Ko Sung-hyun played in the Korea Badminton Masters, defeating teammates’ Hyung Rate-kyu/Shin Seung-chan 2-1 (21-12, 15-21, 21-18) in the mixed doubles final.
