Aaron Chia Teng Fong (Malay: Aaron Chia Teng Fong, February 24, 1997 -), a Malaysian male badminton player. Born in Malacca and the second child in the family, his father, Xie Wenfu, is a badminton enthusiast. Under the influence of his father, Aaron Chia Teng Fong became interested in badminton and began to get involved in this sport. Aaron Chia attended Malacca Pingmin Chinese Primary School and Yumin National Secondary School. From the age of 11 to 12, he began to represent Malacca in various competitions. At the age of 14, he was selected to train at Bukit Jalil Sports School, and won the Malaysian National Badminton League Under-15 Men’s Doubles Championship that year. At the age of 17, he became a full-time badminton player. In October 2018, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik went to the Saarloo Open Badminton Championship held in Saarbrücken, Germany as the top seed, and faced the Chinese Huang Kaixiang/Wang Zekang combination in the semi-finals. After a 46-minute three-game battle, they finally defeated their opponents 2-1 (23-21, 13-21, 21-14) and entered the Super 100 final for the first time in their careers. In March 2019, the Xie Su combination participated in the All England Open Badminton Championships, the second level of the BWF World Tour. In the semi-finals, they faced the 2018 Asian Games men’s doubles silver medal combination and the eighth seed of the tournament, Fajar Alfran/Mohammad Rian Alianto of Indonesia, and reversed their opponents 2-1 (12-21, 22-20, 21-19) to enter the All England Open finals for the first time. In the final, they were strong at first but weak later, losing to the Indonesian combination of Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan 1-2 (21-11, 14-21, 12-21) and missed the championship. In December 2019, the Xie Su team participated in the men’s doubles event of the Southeast Asian Games badminton competition as the second seed. In October 2023, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik teamed up to compete in the Denmark Open Badminton, and defeated the Indonesian combination of Fikri/Maulana in two straight games in the men’s doubles final to win the Super 750 men’s doubles championship for the first time.
