An Se Young Issues Public Apology

An Se Young, the South Korean badminton star and the gold medalist in women’s singles at the Paris Olympics, recently sparked controversy by publicly criticizing the Korea Badminton Association after her victory. Yesterday (August 8), An Se-young issued an apology via Instagram.


An Se Young expressed dissatisfaction with the Korea Badminton Association for not allowing her personal coach to accompany her to the Olympics and revealed that her knee injury worsened after being misdiagnosed following the Hangzhou Asian Games. In response, the Korea Badminton Association denied forcing players to compete and announced the formation of an investigation committee to clarify the facts.

Yesterday, An Se Young posted an all-black image on Instagram and publicly apologized. In her statement, she acknowledged that her comments had shocked many, especially the athletes who fought hard on the Olympic stage. She expressed her profound remorse and guilt.

An Se Young conveyed her deep apologies to the athletes and also expressed her regret to the media and those awaiting her response. She further emphasized that she would elaborate on her thoughts and position after the conclusion of the Olympics.
