The defending Olympic gold-medal Champion Viktor Axelsen (DEN) secured his place into the Semi-finals of the competition after beating Indonesian Loh Kean Yew.
Having faced each other 10 times on previous occasions, we have to go all the way back to the Denmark Open 2022 to find the last time the Indonesian managed to better the long-time world number 1 Axelsen.
The victory means that Axelsen is one step closer to gaining his 3rd consecutive medal at the Olympics, after gaining the bronze-medal at the 2016 Rio games and the gold-medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
In the Semi-Finals awaits him Lakshya Sen (IND) who have only managed to beat the danish superstar in 1 out of their 8 encounters. If their 9th encounter will be the second time Sen beats Axelsen we will have to patiently wait and see to find out.
