Based on my previous review of the JETSPEED 3, the JETSPEED series includes models 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9, which range from mid-range to high-end speed rackets. Having used one of these models, I’ve inferred that these rackets offer high performance that doesn’t always align with their market reputation. Despite this, the JETSPEED 3, featuring High Modulus Carbon, still has not reached 9000 views, which is almost like a microcosm of the HypernanoX series.
Among these models, the JETSPEED 2 SP has recently gained more attention. Seizing the opportunity with some good deals from retailers, I decided to try this lesser-known JETSPEED with a rating of 9.6.

Firstly, I need to criticize its appearance. The color reminds me of the fluorescent yellow version of the JETSPEED 12. From its naming, specifications, and technology, it seems like an entry-level version of the latter. However, compared to the similarly positioned JETSPEED 3, its paint job feels less premium. The matte finish, with its many fluorescent yellow-green stickers, lacks the striking quality of the former’s starry sky glitter paint. Externally, it looks youthful and eye-catching, but up close, it’s not particularly high-quality.
Another pattern I’ve noticed is that I usually experience the 3U versions of the JETSPEED series, whereas the subsequent SUPER SERIES models are mostly 4U (except for the 70K). Considering that these two series are mainly acquired from the second-hand market, is it possible that the 3U versions of the JETSPEED series are less favored by players? Similar to the JETSPEED 3, I believe the 3U JETSPEED 2 SP is a better option for male players. It has a slightly higher balance point and a marginally stiffer shaft, making the impact feel more substantial. The difference is evident in high clears, where the JETSPEED 2 SP’s performance surpasses that of the JETSPEED 3. However, based on my current condition, the racket would shine more within the 25-27 lbs string tension range.
On the day of testing, I arrived late and didn’t have any warm-up time. I hoped that the JETSPEED 2’s user-friendliness would help me get into form faster, and indeed, the JETSPEED 2 SP was easy to handle. Its large string bed area and the well-balanced shaft made each return consistent and avoided mishits. Notably, with the balanced weight distribution, the wind-breaking frame of the JETSPEED series remains very fast, which led me to mishit some non-threatening shots during the testing period due to my impatience.
Even though I had other rackets to test, I ended up using the JETSPEED 2 SP all evening without switching. It proved to be a handy and enjoyable racket.
The JETSPEED 2 SP excels in flat drives and defense. Its large frame, high swing speed, and ball rebound make it a top performer in all aspects of fast flat drives and blocks. The 3U version, despite being heavier, does not hinder its agility at all. As long as you handle the racket well and adjust your grip position, you can hold your own against opponents who are adept at quick net play. This performance also extends to continuous defense, where the racket’s quick response and power allow for effective play, and the JETSPEED 2 SP makes it easy to exploit openings. Its high elasticity helps in returning shots that opponents struggle to put away, often turning defensive situations into offensive opportunities.
As a high-end model in a more affordable version, the JETSPEED 2 SP offers superior attacking capabilities compared to the JETSPEED 12 TD. The shaft stiffness is well-balanced, providing more than 0.2 seconds of extra reaction time, resulting in impressive power. The High Modulus Carbon shaft provides a better feel and explosive power than the Falcon series, eliminating the powerless and frustrating experience sometimes felt with the 12 TD. The JETSPEED 2 SP also shines in maintaining smooth, fluid play from backcourt smashes to net play, making it a well-rounded choice.
For beginners and intermediate players, I personally recommend the 3U version, paired with high-tension strings around 24 lbs. Provided there’s no accidental collision, this racket can accompany you for a long time. With current prices available around the four-digit range, it offers exceptional performance for its value, making it one of the top recommendations for speed rackets across all age groups.
