Bang Soo Hyun


Character Introduction

Bang Soo Hyun is a retired South Korean women’s badminton player who was a leading figure in Korean badminton in the 1990s, winning the women’s singles gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Shortly after winning the gold medal at the Olympics, Bang retired from badminton, married an American doctor in 1998, and moved to the United States to work as a full-time housewife, where she was appointed coach of the U.S. Badminton Junior National Team (under 17) in 2005, and was elected as the youngest member of the Board of Directors of the International Badminton Federation (IBF).
