Boonsak Polsana


Character Introduction

Boonsak Posana (Thai: บุญศักดิ์ พลสนะ, February 22, 1982) or Boonsak Posana is a Thai male badminton player. His sister Saraki Pongsana is also a Thai badminton representative. Boonsak was the 4th place finisher in the men’s singles at the Athens Olympic badminton tournament and had victories against both Lin Dan and Li Zongwei in their heyday, and was called Superman by Thai fans, hence the nickname Superman of Thailand.

In May 2007, Posana competed in the Singapore Badminton Superseries, knocking out Hafiz, Lin Dan and Lin Yufeng to reach the men’s singles final, where he finally won the title with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) victory over Chen Yu.

In November 2010, Posana represented Thailand at the Guangzhou Asian Games, competing in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Team events, winning the Men’s Team Bronze Medal.

In 2012, Posana represented Thailand in the Men’s Singles event at the Olympic Games in London, England; he lost 0-2 (12-21, 17-21) to Chen Long of China in the group stage.

In August 2013, Posana entered the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, as the 4th seed in the men’s singles event. He defeated the French player in the first round and then beat Henri Hulskening of Sweden 2-1 in the next round, but in the third round, he faced the No. 9 seed Jane O. Jorgensen of Denmark, and lost 1-2 (21-10, 17-21, 18-21) in three sets to reach the Round of 16.

In August 2015, Posana participated in the World Badminton Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, playing in the men’s singles event, and went out in the first round with a 0-2 (9-21, 19-21) defeat against the No. 2 seed, Jane O. Jorgensen of Denmark.
