Character Introduction
Debby Susanto (May 3, 1989) is an Indonesian female badminton player who specializes in doubles events and in 2019 announced her retirement.
In 2007, Susanto won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the World Junior Badminton Championships together with Afet Yuris Werawan.
In August 2013, Susanto participated in the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, where he and Mohammad Reza were seeded No. 6 in the mixed doubles event. They missed the first round of the tournament, but advanced to the second round with a 2-1 win over the Japanese pair. In the third round, they faced the Chinese Taipei duo of Chen Honglin and Ching Wenxin, and won 2-0 (21-13, 21-13); however, in the quarterfinals, they lost to Shin Baekcheol/Yim Hye-won of South Korea, 0-2 (9-21, 15-21), and stopped in the round of 8.
In June 2015, she represented Indonesia in the Southeast Asian Games badminton tournament held in Singapore, in the first women’s team, the Indonesian women’s team won the bronze medal; and the mixed doubles final with Pravin Jordan won the gold medal in the mixed doubles at the East Games by defeating Malaysia’s Tan Beng Soon / Goh Liu Ying 2-1 (18-21, 21-13, 25-23).
In January 2016, Debbie Susanto and Praveen Jordan played in the Badminton India Golden Grand Prix and won the opener in the Mixed Doubles final with a 2-1 (23-25, 21-9, 21-16) win over Dechapong Pauwranuko/Sasiri Dradhanachai of Thailand. In March of the same year, she played in the All England Badminton Premier Superseries with Praveen Jordan, defeating the tournament’s No. 5 seed and Danish powerhouse Jokin Fischer Nielsen/Christina Petersen 2-0 (21-12, 21-17) in the Mixed Doubles final, to lift the All England title for the first time.
In March 2017, Debbie Susanto and Pravin Jordan played in the Swiss Badminton Golden Grand Prix and won the runner-up spot in the Mixed Doubles final, defeating the tournament’s No. 3 seed and Thai powerhouse, Dechapong Pauwuranuco/Sasiri Dradhanachai, 0-2 (18-21, 15-21).
