He Bing Jiao


Character Introduction

He Bingjiao (何冰娇), born on 21 March 1997 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a women’s singles player on the Chinese national badminton team.

He Bingjiao’s parents were teachers at the Suzhou Sports School and took her to the school to play sports since she was young. She started playing badminton when she was about 6 or 7 years old, and found it fun to fly around.

At the end of 2008, He Bingjiao played for the Suzhou team and won the women’s singles title, and in February 2009, she was officially admitted to the Jiangsu Provincial Sports School in Nanjing. She won the women’s singles title and third place in the women’s doubles at the 2010 Jiangsu Provincial Games, and a year later, she represented Lianyungang in the 7th People’s Republic of China City Games badminton tournament, where she won second place in the women’s singles.

In July 2013, He Bingjiao represented the national team at the Asian Youth Badminton Championships in Sabah, Malaysia, winning third place in the women’s singles competition. In October of the same year, she also played in the World Junior Badminton Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, winning third place in the women’s singles.

On 22 August 2014, He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title at the Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing) with a 2-1 victory over Akane Yamaguchi.

On 19 April 2015, China Badminton Masters, He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title with a 2-0 victory over Hui Xirui; in December of the same year, He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title with a 2-0 victory over Chen Yufei at the 2015 Indonesia Badminton Masters.

On 21 March 2016, at the Badminton World Federation Super Series (Swiss Open), He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title with a 2-0 victory over Wang Yihan; on 30 October of the same year, at the French Badminton Super Series (2016), He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title with a 2-0 victory over Zhang Beiwen.

On 7 September 2017, at the Thirteenth Games of the People’s Republic of China, He Bingjiao won the third place in the women’s singles with a 2-0 victory over Chen Xiaoxin.

On 22 August 2018, in the women’s team competition of badminton at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, China’s team consisting of Chen Yufei, Chen Qingchen, Jia Yifan, He Bingjiao, Huang Dongping, and Zheng Yu was defeated by Japan 1-3 to settle for the second place in the women’s team.

On 29 September 2019, He Bingjiao won the women’s singles title at the Badminton World Federation Super Series Super 500 Korea Open with a 2-0 victory over Rachano Indanon.

On 17 September 2021, He Bingjiao won the silver medal in the women’s singles badminton match at the 14th National Games.

In October 2021, she won the 2021 Sudirman Cup World Badminton Mixed Team Championships.

On 17 October 2021, He Bingjiao, together with Chen Yufei, Chen Qingchen, Jia Yifan, Huang Dongping and Li Wenmei, won the Uber Cup Badminton Team Championships with a 3-1 comeback victory over Japan.

He Bingjiao beat teammate Chen Yufei in the finals of the German Badminton Open, Korean Badminton Masters and Danish Badminton Open to win the title, and beat Tai Tzu Ying and Marin in the semifinals and finals of the French Badminton Open, respectively, to win the titles back-to-back and win the most titles in women’s singles events on the Badminton World Tour in 2022. The Danish Open was the first 750-level tournament title of her career, while the French Open was the first Chinese player to win the women’s singles title twice.
