Jeanine Cicognini
Jeanine Cicognini, born on November 14, 1986, is a former Swiss female badminton player. She began to represent Italy in competitions in 2014. In 2008, Jeanine Cicognini represented Switzerland in the women’s singles badminton event at the Beijing Olympics. She defeated the Portuguese player Ana Moura in the first round and advanced to the second round. However, she was eliminated with a 0-2 (10-21, 13-21) loss to Anna Rice from Canada. In April 2012, Jeanine Cicognini briefly stopped competing after participating in the Indian Badminton Super Series. In March 2014, Jeanine Cicognini made a comeback to international competitions and represented Italy. In that year, she successively won the women’s singles championships of the Giraldilla Badminton Tournament, the Lagos International Challenge, the Mauritius International Tournament, and the Guatemala International Tournament. In August 2015, Cicognini participated in the World Badminton Championships held in Jakarta, Indonesia. She competed in the women’s singles event and was eliminated in the first round with a 0-2 (13-21, 8-21) loss to Cheng Ching Yee from Malaysia. Jeanine Cicognini is the women’s singles champion of the 2016 Jamaica International Badminton Tournament. She is also the women’s singles champion of the 2016 US International Badminton Tournament. She is the women’s singles champion of the 2015 New Caledonia International Badminton Tournament. In 2009, she reached the semifinals of the women’s singles event of the India Badminton Grand Prix. In 2005, she won the women’s singles championship of the European Junior Badminton Championships.
