Character Introduction
Kim Min-jung (Korean: 김민정, July 29, 1986) is a South Korean female badminton player.
In May 2010, Kim Min-jeong represented South Korea in the Uber Cup; the coach split the permanent combination of Kim Min-jeong/Ha Jeong-eun, and Kim instead combined with veteran Lee Hyo-jung. In the second match of the semifinals, Kim/Lee won 2-0 (21-19,21-10) against Japan’s Satoko Suezuna/Misun Maeda; Korea eventually advanced with a 3-1 win. In the second match of the final, the Kim/Lee team took on world No. 1 Ma Jin/Wang Xiaoli and rallied from a set down to win 2-1 (18-21,21-12,21-15); Korea ended up winning the Uber Cup for the first time by defeating China 3-1.
In November 2010, Kim represented Korea at the Guangzhou Asian Games, competing in the women’s doubles (with Lee Hyo-jung) and women’s team badminton events, winning bronze medals in both events.
At the 2012 London Olympics, Korean athletes Kim Min Jung/Ha Jeong Eun and Indonesian athletes Gracia Poli/Meliana Johari were disqualified by the IOC after they played negatively in Group A of the women’s doubles badminton tournament, either hitting the net or going out of bounds under no pressure.
On August 14, the Korean Badminton Association decided to penalize Ha Jeong-eun, Kim Min-jeong, Kim Ha-na, and Jung Kyung-yin involved in the incident by banning them from participating in any domestic and international badminton tournaments for the next two years.
