Character Introduction

Kisona (October 1, 1998), known as Kisona Selvaduray, is a Malaysian female badminton player.

Born in Negeri Sembilan, Kisona is the youngest in her family. Her father is a policeman and coach, and she started playing badminton at the age of 4. Without her own transportation at the time, Kisona had to walk 4 kilometers from the bus station to reach her training place. Gisuna attended Asamah Chinese Primary School in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, where she became fluent in Mandarin and could write Chinese characters. She grew up with Chinese and her Chinese name is “Jisuna”, which means beautiful in Tamil.

In May 2017, Gisuna competed in the women’s singles event of the Indonesia Badminton International Series and won the first international title of her badminton career, defeating host and No. 3 seed Gregoria Mariska Donzon 2-1 (10-21, 21-16, 21-19) in the final.

In December 2019, Gisuna competed in the women’s singles badminton event at the Southeast Asian Games in Manila, Philippines, and successfully defended her women’s singles gold medal for Malaysia by turning back her opponent 2-1 in the final against Indonesia’s Rusli Hattawan.
