Korean Duo Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee Suffer Shocking Defeat to Maiken and Thygesen at Paris Olympics

On the morning of July 28, the first day’s group stage matches of the Olympic badminton event concluded. The Korean badminton team suffered significant setbacks as the women’s doubles pair Lee So-hee and Baek Ha-na and the mixed doubles pair Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun both faced defeats.


Ranked as the second seeds in the women’s doubles D Group, Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee were grouped with Maiken and Thygesen (Denmark), Kititharakul and Prajongjai (Thailand), and Lambert and Tran (France). However, in their opening match, Baek and Lee suffered a shocking 1-2 defeat (18-21, 21-9, 14-21) to Maiken and Thygesen. Meanwhile, the Thai pair Kititharakul and Prajongjai defeated Lambert and Tran 2-1, adding significant pressure on the Korean duo for their upcoming matches.

In the mixed doubles Group A match, the Korean pair Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun, known to be tough opponents for the Chinese pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, faced their third consecutive defeat, losing 1-2 to the Indonesian duo Rivaldy and Pitha.
