Lee Meng Yean
Character Introduction
Lee Meng Yean (March 30, 1994), real name Lee Ming Yan, is a Malaysian female badminton player.
In July 2011, Lee Meng Yean represented Malaysia at the Asian Youth Badminton Championships in Lucknow, India, where the Malaysian team won the silver medal in the first team event; and the women’s doubles final with youth partner Zou Meijun was defeated by Indonesia’s Sukhi Riki Andini/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah, 1-2 (18-21, 21-16, 12-21), winning the runner-up in the women’s doubles at the Asian Youth Championships.
In October 2011, she represented Malaysia at the World Junior Badminton Championships in Taoyuan, Taiwan, helping the Malaysian team win its first ever gold medal in the World Youth Team Championships.
In November 2012, Lee Mingyan and Zou Meijun competed in the Malaysia Badminton International Challenge and won her first international women’s doubles title by defeating Rilyn Amelia/Melvira Okramona of Indonesia 2-0 (21-13, 23-21) in the women’s doubles final.
In July 2013, Lee Mingyan represented Malaysia at the World University Games badminton tournament in Kazan, Russia, winning the women’s doubles bronze medal in partnership with Zou Meijun.
In August 2017, Lee Ming Yan represented Malaysia at the Southeast Asian Games badminton tournament held in her home country and won the silver medal in the women’s team event with her team.
In January 2022, Lee Mingyan quit the Malaysian national team to switch gears to coach women’s doubles.
