Lee Zii Jia is a national badminton player of Malaysia. Born into a sports family, his father Lee Chee Hsing and mother Liao Xueping were both former national basketball players, his sister Lee Tzu Yu is a former national badminton player, and his brother Lee Tzu is a former state player. He started playing badminton at the age of 5 under the arrangement of his parents, and spent his primary school years at the Ket Chinese School in Alor Setar. Lee Zii Jia also likes playing basketball since he was a child, and NBA basketball superstar Kobe Bryant is his idol. Due to his outstanding performance in the under-12 badminton competition, he was quickly selected to the Bukit Jalil Sports School. However, his performance during the six years in the sports school was not too outstanding.
