Mak Hee Chun

Character Introduction

Mak Hee Chun (December 28, 1990), a Hong Kong male badminton player, was born in Malaysia and began representing Hong Kong in international events from 2016.

In November 2010, Mak Hee Chun represented Malaysia in the Guangzhou Asian Games, competing in men’s doubles and men’s team events.

In 2011, due to disagreements with his partner Chan Wei Keong affecting their performance, Mak split from his partner and teamed up with veteran Wong Soon Hock. Together, they reached the semifinals in their debut at the Vietnam Open.

In 2012, Mak was removed from the Malaysian Badminton Association and officially left the Malaysian national team. He continued to compete as an independent player.

In January 2015, Mak had the opportunity to develop his career in Hong Kong. However, after being persuaded by the national team head coach, Yan Wei De, he rejoined the national team in March. His partnership with Cheung Kwok Cheung was once considered a potential world-class combination. Nevertheless, he exited the national team again after five months, stating, “I performed better as an independent player. As a national team player, I couldn’t handle the pressure.”
