National badminton organised internal rivalry tournament, real-life simulation for Olympic sprint

From 6 to 7 July, the Chinese badminton team held an internal match at Chengdu Shuangliu Hi-tech Zone Sports Centre. From the layout of the field of play, the schedule to the game opponent as much as possible to simulate the Olympic Games experience, help Olympic athletes to feel the Olympic atmosphere early.

A total of 35 players took part in this match, including 16 players including Shi Yuqi, Li Shifeng, Chen Yufei, He Bingjiao, Liang Weikang, Wang Chang, Liu Yuchen, Ou Xuanyi, Chen Qingchen, Jia Yifan, Liu Shengshu, Tan Ning, Zheng Siwei, Huang Yaqiong, Feng Yanzhe, Huang Dongping, who will be fighting for the Paris Olympics, as well as the main force of the national badminton team and newcomers who simulated the foreign opponents/combinations.

Internal simulation match as a customary preparatory exercises on the eve of each Olympic Games, in addition to find the feeling of the game, more is to let the players through the layout of the Olympic stadium, as well as the process of the Olympic Games and wearing Olympic uniforms, etc., so that we can “immersive” experience the atmosphere of the Olympic Games, and at the same time to test the closed training recently. Effectiveness. The overall purple colour scheme of the stadium, the “Paris 2024” logo everywhere, and the inclusion of English refereeing and on-site English results announcements simulated the Olympic Games scene from multiple dimensions.

Of the 16 men from the national badminton team who will participate in the Paris Olympics, seven of them are qualifying for the Olympics for the first time. For them the moment they stepped into the arena was full of excitement and nervousness, and they confessed that the Olympic characters everywhere reminded them that the Olympics were just around the corner. The youngest women’s doubles team of the national badminton team, Tan Ning/Liu Shengshu, one was born in 2003 and the other in 2004, said they felt obvious tension in the beginning of the game, but as the game went on, their emotions gradually smoothed out and entered into a state of oblivion. Liu Shengshu said, “My hands were icy before I went on the court because all aspects of the simulation were rehearsing for the Olympics and it was our first time to participate.” Tan Ning said bluntly, “The start was tight, but the game played pretty well, and also for the problems in the previous matches to play some of the matches wanted.”

Similarly, the “00s” pairing of Liang Weikang/Wang Chang also had their ups and downs in the two matches, but they also made positive adjustments to bring out the effects of their previous training. Liang Weikang said: “Because of the full simulation of the Olympic Games, the feeling of the match was completely different. The process of the game was also very close to the official game, there was leading and trailing back, however, we played the desired effect.” In addition, after experiencing the first loss, Li Shifeng played well in the second day of the match. Through the simulation match, he also felt that, if the loss happened in the Olympic Games group stage, he could not affect the second match just because of the first loss, and had to make timely adjustments.

Simulation of opponents is one of the important elements of the tournament. 6 days of the first mixed doubles match, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong went through 3 sets of fierce battle, only to beat Guo Xinhua/Wei Yaxin. Jiang Zhenbang / Wei Yaxin split file to participate in the composition of the “double left-handed” temporary combination, is also special. Zheng Siwei said, “The opponent is our own choice, because they are both left-handed players.” At the Paris Olympics, the South Korean pair of Seo Seung-Jae/Chae Eu-Dong, both left-handed players, was one of their key opponents. Although they only participated in the first day of the confrontation, the process was very rewarding. Huang Yaqiong said, “the first game is very smooth, the second game due to the wind direction of their own errors increased, did not complete the tactics very well, has been behind, and finally chased down and overtook to 19-17, and then lost four points in a row to lose, have to go to fight the third game, and then go to make adjustments, the process is very close to the real world.”

Because it is a simulation match, through the process on the field can test the results of the previous stage of training, to find new problems, but also for the last two weeks of sprint training to refine the direction. Shi Yuqi won two consecutive days of competition, and encountered problems in the process, the men’s singles group in charge of the coach Sun Jun said: “From the simulation match, he is very positive on the field, the state is very good.”

Women’s singles group Chen Yufei, He Bingjiao, Wang Zhiyi, Han Yue are two consecutive days. Speaking of the performance of Chen Yufei and He Bingjiao, Luo Yigang, the coach in charge of the women’s singles team, said: “This period of training has seen some results, Chen Yufei has made progress in the attack. Although He Bingjiao encountered great difficulties in the match, she is trying to overcome them, and overall reached the role of the simulation match.”

In addition, as the “rivals” of the Olympic participants Guo Xinwa / Wei Yaxin, Jiang Zhenbang / Li Xi, Dong Tianyao, Zhu Xuanchen, Luo Xu Min and other newcomers also said that to be able to fight with older siblings in such a realistic Olympic simulation is also a great promotion and growth for themselves.
