Character Introduction

Ng Tsz Yau, Yoyo (April 24, 1998) is a Hong Kong Chinese female badminton player. She graduated from Ma Tau Chung Government Primary School (Hung Hom Bay) and Hip Yan Secondary School.

Yoyo started practicing badminton at the age of 5 and initially fell in love with the sport because she played with her uncle. She started to play doubles with Athena Yeung in 2013, where she specialized in controlling the ball at the net to compensate for her teammate’s weaknesses.

In August 2014, Ng Chi Yau represented Hong Kong, China in badminton at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. In the women’s singles competition, she won 3 out of 3 matches in Group E of the group stage and advanced to the knockout rounds at the top of her group, but went out in the last eight with a 0-2 (12-21, 9-21) loss to Bussanlan Embrupong of Thailand. And in the mixed doubles, she was drawn as a partner with Malaysia’s Chiam Chun. They won 3 out of 3 matches in Group C of the group stage, advancing to the knockout stage at the top of their group and making it all the way to the final, where they finally beat the Japan/Chinese Taipei pair 2-0 (21-14, 23-21) to win the gold medal. She said after the match that she hadn’t thought about winning the gold medal before coming to the Youth Olympic Games, her goal was just to finish in the top four, and she thought the cross-country mix was great.

In October 2015, Wu Zhirou competed in the First National Youth Games Badminton Tournament in Fujian, winning a bronze medal in women’s doubles with Yang Yating.
