On August 5th, Zhang Nings badminton charity summer camp concluded successfully at her training base in Zhangning, Weixian County, Hebei Province.

Zhang Ning, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in women’s singles badminton, personally led the camp for seven days. She expressed joy in seeing the children’s progress during their time together and hopes to perpetuate this act of kindness.

This summer camp marked Zhang Ning’s second charitable event in Weixian. Previously, she collaborated with Liu Ruige, the county party secretary, in November last year to livestream sales of local rice online, achieving significant social and economic benefits.

Zhang Ning aims not only to promote local badminton development but also to bring the joy inherent in the sport to these young students. Reflecting on her efforts, she emphasized that badminton isn’t just about competitive success but also about the happiness it brings to participants.

“I’ve always believed that badminton is not just about competition for medals but also a sport that brings happiness. Since the establishment of the training base, I have hoped to bring joy to these children through badminton.”

The seven-day summer camp quickly became a cherished memory. During the closing ceremony on August 5th, Zhang Ning emotionally addressed the students, saying, “In these seven days, I’ve seen your sweat, dedication, and perseverance. But most importantly, I’ve seen your smiles.”

She continued, “Badminton is a sport that can bring you happiness. Although seven days is short, I hope you have felt the charm of badminton and enjoyed the joy of playing. Compared to coaching Olympic and world champions, your dedication and hard work are equally admirable, if not more lovable.”

Zhang Ning also revealed plans for future editions of the summer camp, ensuring continuous support and growth for the students with professional coaches overseeing their daily training and competitions.
