Opening Day is Here!
The 2024 European Championships kick off today, marking the first experience of the courts, venues, and competitions. Here, we’ll share the most anticipated matches of the day.
Today’s schedule is dedicated to the men’s and women’s singles events, featuring all round of 64 matches.
Men’s Singles
On Court 1, the day starts with a Scandinavian clash between Kalle Koljonen (Finland) and Gustav Bjorkler (Sweden), battling for a spot in the round of 32, where they will face Aria Dinata (Croatia).
Later in the evening, Fabian Roth (Germany) will be in the spotlight. As the most anticipated player of the first day, he aims to uplift the German team’s morale after early injuries sidelined two of their players. However, this will not be an easy task as he faces Luka Wraber (Austria), who is ranked 128th in the world, while Roth holds the 86th spot. This will be their first encounter, promising an exciting match.
Women’s Singles
The final match of the evening in the women’s singles category features Leonie Suet (Germany) challenging Hili Heman (Israel). The winner will face Wiktoria Dabczynska (Poland) in the round of 32. This match presents a great opportunity for both players to advance further in the tournament and establish their positions in the European badminton scene.
