Character Introduction
Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (Thai: พรทิพย์ บูรณะประเสริฐสุข, October 24, 1991) or transliterated as Buranapasaisu or Pondi, is a Thai female badminton player.
In November 2010, Pondi Buranapaseok represented Thailand at the Guangzhou Asian Games, competing in the women’s singles and women’s team events in badminton, winning the silver medal in the women’s team.
In May 2011, Pondi Buranabaseok won the women’s singles title at the India Open Badminton Championships, defeating Yip Pui-yin of Hong Kong and Bae Yeon-shu of South Korea. This was the first time a Thai player had won the women’s singles title at a Badminton World Federation Super Series event.
In July 2013, Pondy Branabasit won bronze medals in the women’s singles and mixed team at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
In August 2013, Pongdee Branabasak competed in the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, as the 15th seed in the women’s singles event. She faced No. 3 seed Saina Neville of India in the third round and lost 1-2 (21-18, 16-21, 14-21) in three sets to reach the round of 16.
In July 2015, Pondy Branabasuk represented Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University at the World University Games badminton tournament in Gwangju City, South Korea, winning the silver medal in women’s singles and the bronze medal in mixed team.
In August 2016, Pondi Buranabaseok represented Thailand in the women’s singles event of the Olympic Games badminton tournament held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and in the quarterfinals, Pondi Buranabaseok faced the No. 3 seed of the tournament, Li Xuerui of China, and she was defeated 0-2 (12-21, 17-21), by her opponent.
