The last Swedish victory was in 2018 when another women’s doubles pair, Emma Karlsson and Johanna Magnusson, won

Last year, Moa and Tilda Sjo narrowly missed the finals, losing in the semifinals. This year, the sisters smoothly sailed through the early rounds, achieving consecutive victories. In the semifinals, they faced a tough battle against the French pair, Thea Margueritte and Flavie Vallet. In this thrilling three-game match, the Swedish duo won with scores of 21-12, 13-21, and 21-11

In the final, they competed against the Danish pair Amalie Cecilie Kudsk and Signe Schulz. “We are very pleased with this victory,” Moa Sjo said in an interview with the Swedish Badminton Association. Tilda added, “Playing at home with the crowd supporting us was crazy.”

The success of Swedish badminton did not stop there. Filip Karlborg and Mio Molin finished as runners-up on home soil, with the Danish pair William Kryger Boe and Christian Frost Kjær winning the men’s doubles title.

In the mixed doubles final, Danish players Rasmus Espersen and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk defeated Jeppe Søby and Kathrine Vang. In the singles matches, Spanish top seed Pablo Abian won the men’s singles title, while Indian player Devika Sihag triumphed in the women’s singles, advancing through the qualifiers.

The European tour does not stop. The RSL Iceland International is part of the upcoming series, scheduled to take place from January 25 to 28.
