Robert Mateusiak

Robert Mateusiak (Polish: Robert Mateusiak, born January 13, 1976) is a Polish male badminton player specializing in doubles events.

In 2009, Robert Mateusiak teamed up with Nadieżda Zięba to compete in the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships in the mixed doubles event, where they won the title.

In August 2013, Mateusiak competed in the World Badminton Championships held in Guangzhou, China, partnering with Nadieżda Zięba as the 8th seed in the mixed doubles event. They received a bye in the first round, won their second-round match against a Dutch pair 2-0, and then defeated the Russian pair Vitalij Durkin and Nina Vislova 2-0 (21-8, 21-15) in the third round. However, they lost in the quarterfinals to the top-seeded Chinese duo Xu Chen and Ma Jin, 0-2 (4-21, 4-21), ending their run at the quarterfinal stage.

In August 2016, Robert Mateusiak represented Poland in the mixed doubles event at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, partnering with Nadieżda Zięba as the 13th seed. In the group stage, they achieved victories against China’s Xu Chen and Ma Jin, and the British pair Chris Adcock and Gabby Adcock, despite losing a match to Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen. With a record of two wins and one loss, they advanced to the quarterfinals as the top pair in their group. In the quarterfinals, Mateusiak and Zięba faced Malaysia’s Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, losing 0-2 (17-21, 10-21).
