Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

Character Introduction

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (English: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, August 13, 2000-) is an Indian male badminton player.

In December 2015, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won his first international tournament title with a 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) victory over Arun Vishnu/Aparna Balan, the tournament’s No. 2 seeds and teammates, in the mixed doubles final.

In April 2018, Ranjireddy represented India at the Commonwealth Games badminton tournament held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, winning the Commonwealth Men’s Doubles Silver Medal in the Men’s Doubles Final against the tournament’s No. 3 seeds, Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge of England 0-2 (13-21, 16-21), while the Mixed Doubles Quarterfinal match was 0-2 (19-21, 19- 21) against the tournament’s No. 8 seeds, Malaysian powerhouse Tan Beng Soon/Goh Liu Ying, to win fourth place.

In 2019 under Indonesian coach Lim Pei Lei, Rangireddy and partner Shetty struck gold at the Thailand Open, defeating Lee Junhui/Liu Yuchen in the final to win the first Super Series men’s doubles title in the history of Indian badminton. The duo has since reached the finals of the SUPER750 French Open and the semi-finals of the SUPER750 Fuzhou Open.

In 2022, Ranjireddy represented India in the 2022 Thomas Cup Men’s Badminton Team Championships, where he won the title with a blowout win over Indonesia in the final.

In October 2023, Ranjireddy/Shetty extended their unbeaten run against Choi Rate-kyu/Kim Won-ho in the Men’s Doubles Final of the Hangzhou Asian Games, 21-18, 21-16, to make it three consecutive victories in the encounter, winning the gold medal in a major multi-sports event for the second time after last year’s Commonwealth, and helping India’s men’s doubles team to reach the top podium of the Asian Games for the first time in the history of the sport. The pair also became the first men’s doubles pair in history to win both the Asian Championships and the Asian Games in a single season and went on to become the world number one with the title.
