Silver Medal and New Canadian Officials
From the Premier Junior Tournament in the Americas
Canadian junior badminton athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the XXXII Pan American Junior Championships held from July 11 to 19, 2024, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. In both individual and team events, the young Canadian players demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Team Competition Highlights
The Canadian team excelled in the team events, competing against strong opponents from Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and the United States. Through strategic play and cohesive teamwork, the team secured a well-deserved silver medal, proudly earning their place on the podium.
“For most of our junior athletes, the Pan American Junior Championships represent their first experience competing outside Canada and their first opportunity to represent their country. Whenever you have the chance to wear Team Canada colors, it is a great honor. It is also an opportunity for them to gauge their abilities against athletes from the Pan American region. The Pan American Junior Championships serve as an excellent precursor to the Junior World Championships in China this October,” stated Mike Butler, Head Coach of the National Team.
