
Character Introduction
Hiroe Yuki was one of the most outstanding female athletes in Japanese badminton, who made a name for herself in the world of badminton in the late 1960s and late 1970s.
She won the women’s singles title at the All England Championships in 1969, the first Japanese player to reach what was then called the unofficial World Championships. She was the first Japanese badminton player to become what was then called the unofficial world champion, and in 1971, paired with her teammate Takagi, she won the women’s doubles title at the All England Championships.
She was a rare talent in the Japanese and world badminton world, characterized by good footwork, physical strength, comprehensive skills, good judgment in the game, good command of the center, calmness on the court, and experience. Yuki Bohui’s playing style is steady, and her specialty is the overhead chopping and slinging diagonal with fast speed and accurate landing point.
In 1974 and 1975, she won the women’s singles title at the All England Championships. Two years later, she was again crowned All England Women’s Singles Champion, making her the most frequent All England Women’s Singles Champion since the 1970s.
Born in 1949, Hiromi Yuki was a key player in Japan’s participation in the Uber Cup, and made an indelible contribution to Japan’s four appearances at the World Women’s Team Championships. Especially in 1981, when she was 32 years old, despite her declining physical strength and slow speed, she was still a pillar of the Japanese team and fought hard to bring the Uber Cup back to Japan for the fifth time together with her teammates.
