Top European Youth Players to Meet in Serbia
A record number of players from across Europe will showcase their badminton skills at the “Serbian U17 and Youth International” tournament, taking place from June 19 to 23 at the SC “Slana Bara” in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The “Serbian U17 and Youth International Novi Sad 2024” tournament has broken all previous records, gathering nearly 450 young players and over 1,000 participants from 23 European countries. Now in its 12th edition, the tournament is supported by the European Badminton Confederation (BEC), the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth, and the city of Novi Sad. This summer, the tournament has set new standards with impressive results.
Young athletes will compete in boys’ and girls’ singles, as well as boys’, girls’, and mixed doubles. On June 19 (Wednesday), players aged 9 to 15 will take to the courts, officially kicking off this year’s Serbian Youth International competition. Starting from June 21 (Friday), the courts will be dedicated to the U17 players, marking the Serbian U17 International Championship. The weekend will highlight the semifinals and finals, showcasing Europe’s young badminton stars. After the finals on June 22 (Saturday), there will be an award ceremony for players aged 9 to 15. On Sunday, the finals and award ceremony for the top-performing U17 players will conclude the event.
The traditional “Serbian U17 and Youth International Novi Sad 2024” tournament ranks among the top three European events in terms of participation, organizational standards, and player quality. It is listed in the official calendar of the European Badminton Confederation and will be awarded Grand Prix status internationally. Domestically, it is recognized as a significant event for the Republic of Serbia, the Vojvodina Autonomous Province, and the city of Novi Sad, reflecting the immense interest among young people in the sport. To date, young Serbian badminton players have won hundreds of medals in international competitions, showcasing Serbia’s outstanding performance in this Olympic sport, which has rightfully risen to become a priority national sport in recent years.
The Novi Sad Badminton Tournament is organized by the Serbian Badminton Association, the Vojvodina Badminton Association, and the Novi Sad Badminton Club. The “Serbian U17 and Youth International Novi Sad 2024” tournament also receives sponsorship from Victor, Beoexpo System, Tin Šped, Coca-Cola HBC Serbia, Bambi, VBS Solutions, Jungman Travel, the Serbian Tourist Organization, and the Novi Sad Tourist Organization.
