Two Badminton Players Withdraw from Olympics Due to Injuries
German men’s doubles player Mark Lamsfuss and Guatemalan men’s singles player Kevin Cordon have announced their withdrawal from the 2024 Paris Olympic badminton competition due to injuries.
German men’s doubles player Mark Lamsfuss has withdrawn from the 2024 Paris Olympic badminton competition due to a knee injury. As a result, Lamsfuss and his teammate Marvin Seidel will not participate in their Group C matches against India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and France’s Thom Gicquel/Ronan Labar. According to BWF group stage rules, all matches involving the German pair in Group C, whether already played or yet to be played, will be considered null and void.
Guatemalan men’s singles player Kevin Cordon has also announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Paris Olympic badminton competition due to a left elbow injury. Consequently, his Group L matches against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie and Belgium’s Julien Carraggi will not take place. According to BWF group stage rules, all matches involving Cordon in Group L, whether already played or yet to be played, will be considered null and void.
