Update: The Stoeva Sisters have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Olympics

Following the victory of the Stoyeva sisters over the American pair Anne Hsu/Kerry Hsu today, together with the victory of Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning [3] (China) over Yang Yating/Yang Peilin (Hong Kong), the Bulgarian sisters officially finished second in Group B, meaning they qualified for the quarter-finals.

“We didn’t realize what we were doing. It was a very emotional moment to see Petya (their coach) crying and we just said to ourselves, keep the emotion, “Stefani told Badminton Europe.

“We are very happy. We fought for this moment and now it has come and we are very happy, “Gabriela continued.

It was a remarkable feat for the Bulgarian pair, who must now have MEDALS on their minds as they are just two wins away from competing for Olympic gold, silver and bronze MEDALS.

“We are ready for the quarter-finals. We will do our best and maybe we can surprise ourselves more.

The quarter-final draw will take place after the final women’s doubles group match. The final game is expected to be played at 09:10 p.m. (CET), so the draw will take place around 10:15 p.m.
