Vladimir Ivanov

Character Introduction

Vladimir Ivanov (Russian: Владимир Иванов, born July 3, 1987) is a Russian male badminton player.

In March 2005, Vladimir Ivanov, along with Olga Koslova, competed in the European Youth Championships held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, where they won a silver medal in the team event and a bronze medal in mixed doubles.

In 2009, Ivanov, together with Ivan Sozonov, won the men’s doubles title at the Russian Open and successfully defended the title the following year.

In 2012, Ivanov represented Russia at the London Olympic Games, competing in both men’s singles and men’s doubles. In men’s singles, he won one match against Taiwan’s Hsu Jen-Hao but lost to Korea’s Son Wan-Ho, finishing second in his group and thus being eliminated.

In July 2013, Ivanov represented Russia at the Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, where he won a silver medal in men’s doubles and a bronze medal in mixed doubles.

In August 2013, Ivanov competed in the World Badminton Championships held in Guangzhou, China, in both men’s singles and men’s doubles. In men’s singles, he won his first-round match but was defeated by the 14th seed, China’s Wang Zhengming, in the second round. In men’s doubles, partnering with Ivan Sozonov as the 14th seed, they received a bye in the first round but were defeated in the second round by Malaysia’s Zakry Abdul Latif/Fairuzizuan Tazari.

In July 2015, Ivanov and Sozonov won the men’s doubles title at the Russian Grand Prix by defeating Malaysia’s Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong 2–0 (22–20, 21–19) in the final.

In March 2016, Ivanov and Sozonov won the All England Open men’s doubles title, defeating Japan’s Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa 2–1 (21–23, 21–18, 21–16), making them the first Russian pair to win the All England men’s doubles title.

In July 2018, Ivanov won his first international mixed doubles title by defeating India’s Rohan Kapoor/Kuhu Garg 2–0 (21–19, 21–17) in the final.
