Wen Chi Hsu

Character Introduction

Wen Chi Hsu was energetic from a young age, which led her to join the school badminton team in second grade through an open selection. She attended Taipei Municipal Daan High School, a renowned badminton school, for both junior and senior high school. In 2015, Wen Chi Hsu stood out in the selection trials, earning the opportunity to compete in the Asian Junior Championships and the World Junior Championships, where she won a bronze medal in the mixed team event.

Upon graduating from high school, Wen Chi Hsu chose to focus on her studies, believing she had no future in adult-level badminton. She was admitted to National Chiao Tung University’s Industrial Engineering and Management program based on her high school sports achievements. By her junior year, Wen Chi Hsu reconsidered abandoning badminton and decided to resume training. She caught the attention of the Middle Rent Corporation badminton team, which made an exception to sign her as a formal member. Wen Chi Hsu chose to take a break from her master’s program at the university to focus on training, setting a goal to retire after reaching the top 100 in world rankings by age 25.

At the end of 2021, Wen Chi Hsu traveled to Europe to compete in international tournaments. In her first stop, the Belgium International, she advanced from the qualifiers to the final but lost 21-12, 16-21, 21-23 to Riko Gunji, earning the runner-up position. She followed this with the Hungary International the next week, where she won her first international title by defeating India’s Aditi Bhatt 16-21, 21-11, 21-7 in the women’s singles final.
