Maiken Fruergaard/ Sara Thygesen scored a stunning victory on the first day of badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Dane defeated world number two Haina Baek/So-hee Lee 21-18, 9-21, 21-14 in three sets. 

“It was a fantastic start,” Thygesen told TV 2 SPORT after the win over the Korean pair, “Of course it was a surprise to win against the world number two players, but we always believed.
