BAE Yeon Ju


Character Introduction

Bae Yeon Ju (Korean: 배연주; October 26, 1990) is a South Korean female badminton player.

In November 2010, Bae Yeonshu represented South Korea at the Guangzhou Asian Games, where she competed in the women’s singles and women’s team events, winning the bronze medal in the women’s team.

In January 2011, Bae Yeonsoo played in the 2010 Badminton World Cup Super Series Finals and eliminated Wang Yihan of China in the quarterfinals, but she lost to another Chinese player Wang Shixian in the finals 0-2 (13-21, 15-21), and was only the second runner-up.

In July 2012, Bae Yeon Shu represented South Korea to compete in the women’s singles badminton event of the Olympic Games held in London, England, and defeated Malaysia’s Cheng Ching Yee and Italy’s Agnese Allegrini in the group stage to advance to the knockout rounds; however, in the first round of the tournament, she lost to the tournament’s top seed, China’s Wang Yi Han, 1-2 (21-15, 14-21, 14-21) and finished in the round of 16, stopping at the end of the round. She went out in the first round of the tournament, stopping in the round of 16.

In August 2013, Pei Yanshu participated in the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, as the 13th seed in the women’s singles event. After the first round, she defeated Hong Kong’s Chen Zhijia and Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi in the second and third rounds, respectively; in the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Saina Nevill of India, she won 2-0 (23-21, 21-9), and entered the quarterfinals; but in the semifinals against No. 1 seed Li Xuerui of China, she made one mistake after another, and finally, after only 31 minutes of play, she won 0-2 (5-21), and then lost 0-2 (5-2). She lost 0-2 (5-21, 11-21) in two sets and finished third, but broke through her personal best in the World Championships.

In August 2014, Pei Yanshu participated in the World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, and played in the women’s singles event as the No. 6 seed, so she missed the first round. She defeated Karin Schnetzer of Germany 2-0 in the second round to advance to the World Championships, but lost 1-2 (21-19, 20-22, 23-25) in the third round against 11th seed Pushara Venkata Sindhu of India in the first set, stopping her run in the round of 16.
