Character Introduction

Mads Pieler Kolding (January 27, 1988) is a Danish male badminton player who specializes in doubles events.

In March 2007, Mads Pieler Kolding participated in the European Junior Badminton Championships in Saarland, Germany, playing in the men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and team events with Mads Konrad Petersen and Len Denmuker Krouse. In the mixed team event, won the bronze medal. And in Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, winning silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In April 2009, Mads Pillar Kolding and Mads Conrad Petersen played in the Netherlands Badminton International and won their first international doubles title, defeating the tournament’s top seed and Dutch powerhouse Ruud Bosch/Koen Reid 2-0 (21-14, 22-20) in the men’s doubles final.

In 2012, Pillar competed at the Badminton Europe Championships in Karlskrona, Sweden, where he reached the final of the mixed doubles competition with Julie Hohmann. In October of the same year, he and Camilla Lüth Juhl competed in the Dutch Badminton Grand Prix, winning the mixed doubles final with a 2-0 (21-15, 21-13) win over Marcus Ellis/Gabri White of England, the 6th seed of the tournament.

In August 2013, Pillar competed at the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, playing in the mixed doubles event with Camilla Lütte Juhl, eliminating Hong Kong’s players 2-0 in the first round to advance, but going out in the second round, 1-2 (21-18, 17-21, 13-21) to top seeds Xu Chen/Ma Jin of China.

In January 2017, Mads Pillar Kolding competed in the Indian Premier Featherball League in India and killed a shot up to 264 miles per hour (426 km/h), breaking the Guinness World Record held by Malaysian No. 1 Lee Chong Wei for the fastest dunking of a ball in a match at 253.55 miles per hour (408 km/h).

On November 13, 2021, he announced his retirement.
