Cheng Xing: Looking forward to winning more high

Since last year, Cheng Xing has been involved in the World Tour, and he and Chen Fanghui made a breakthrough in the Shenzhen Masters at the end of the year. This year, he played with his old partner Zhang Chi from the youth team and won the 300 championship for the first time. Therefore, Cheng Xing has gradually become familiar to everyone. Cheng Xing is a very distinctive player, and many people say he is like Zhang Yishan, with a very outgoing personality and a lot of words.

Cheng Xing looks like Liu Xing

Has anyone commented that you look like Zhang Yishan? (Alian)

Yes! When I was a kid, someone said I looked like Liu Xing from the TV series Home with Kids, and jokingly asked me to apply for a stunt double. Is this the legendary “Cheng Xing looks like Liu Xing”?

Do you like to listen to music? What kind of songs do you listen to? (Qinghai Grassland-Go Guoyu Olympics)

I love listening to music so much that I carry headphones with me everywhere and listen to all kinds of songs. I probably listen to Xue Zhiqian’s songs the most. Zhang Hanyu and I played the song guessing game before. We played six or seven of Xue Zhiqian’s songs in a row, and I could tell the song title as soon as the prelude started.

Is there anything you like to eat? Can you cook? (Qinghai Grassland-Go Guoyu Olympics)

I like to eat a lot of food, and I like strong flavors. Being able to cook is a self-cultivation for a foodie, but now I cook much less because I eat in the team.

Evaluate yourself, are you the kind of man who is particularly funny or neurotic? (Take a step back and then jump)

I’m not funny, I just talk a lot, I like to talk, and I don’t do weird things very often. If you want to talk about funny things, it’s that I make fools of myself!

Not the most “e”, but the most talkative

What is Teacher Cheng Xing’s MBTI (it looks pretty E anyway)? (crhhhh-)

I must be an ENTJ! If I am not ENTJ, then there may be no one else who is ENTJ. I cannot say that I am the most ENT in the team, but there is probably no one who talks more than me.

Who are your good friends in the team? (crhhhh-)

Zeng Weihan, Zhang Hanyu, we are from the same batch. Zhang Hanyu must be a close friend, we are in the same group, and we have been roommates since the youth team. Zhang Hanyu and I even have the same slippers and computer keyboard. Anyway, if Zhang buys something that I think is useful, I will buy the same one!

Recommend some attractions and food in your hometown. And how good is your Cantonese? (Little Monster likes puppies and wheat)

I am from Jiangxi, so I would recommend Mount Lu Xihai and Jingdezhen. I came to Guangdong in 2012, so I haven’t been to many attractions in Jiangxi Province, but these two are the ones I have been to. For food, I must recommend Jiangxi fried noodles, Nanchang fried noodles and clay pot soup are both cheap and delicious. As for Cantonese, I am trying hard to learn it, but I can only listen but not speak it. It often happens that Zeng Weihan and others chat with me in Cantonese, and I answer them in Mandarin.

In the badminton world, is there anyone you admire? Why? (Angel Huang Xiaozhu)

It must be Brother Nan (Zhang Nan)! I like Brother Nan’s ball control, his ability to control the situation, and his willingness to study hard during training. When we were in the youth team, Director Chen (Chen Qiqiu) told us that Brother Nan could practice 60 minutes of full-court ball control in a one-on-three situation, and he would even replace the other players. When Brother Nan was in his room, he would watch videos. In the hot summer in Beijing, he would wear a vest and hold half a watermelon to watch videos.

Complete a mindset shift

What is your biggest improvement in the past year? (Little Monster likes puppies)

I think it is the ability to solve problems on the court. When I first came out last year, I didn’t know what to do when I encountered a problem. I would keep losing points and then I became less and less confident. The turning point at that time was when Fanghui told me that we were the only mixed doubles pair going to the United States and Canada. We had always been behind our brothers and sisters before. At that time, we had to stand up and get results. We had to stand up. My mentality changed a lot during the preparation and subsequent competitions. I felt that I was also a member of the Chinese badminton team, and I could also represent the Chinese team to win the championship, so when I encountered a problem, I would think of a solution based on the situation at the time.

Pairing up with Chi Mei again, what is different from the previous youth competitions? Will we have a better understanding? (Not losing our good mood)

When we were in the youth team, we were partners, and we had a foundation of cooperation and tacit understanding. Now, our individual strengths have improved, but the overall cooperation and connection are not yet what we expected. We joked that being paired again is like being the most familiar strangers. We are familiar with the habits of running and holding the ball, but the details of the division of labor are very unfamiliar. It feels very different at the beginning.

I want to ask what your goals are this year? Ranking points champion or something like that? (-Nicky-W, Apreslaneige, crhhhh-)

The first goal of this year has actually been achieved – winning the 300 tournament. The next goal is to win the 500 tournament and higher level tournaments. As for the ranking, I hope to be in the top 15 and narrow the gap with the top three pairs of players.

Is there any difference between partnering with Fang Hui and Chi Mei? Who is more suitable to partner with? (crhhhh-)

When I play with Fang Hui, I can play more in the front half while she plays in the back. There will be more double pressure and defensive counterattacks. When it comes to Zhang Chi, I will be more inclined to create offense, and the competition in the front half will be more intense. In fact, if I am better, I will be more suitable with anyone!

There is a shadow after the buzz cut

Do you have any requirements for your hairstyle? Is it natural curly hair? Why don’t you trust Tony from Lingshui! (A Yuan from Hong Kong)

Sometimes I have requirements for my hairstyle, but most of the time I just go with the flow. Natural curls are definitely not the way to go! I once had a buzz cut in Lingshui, and after I came back everyone said I looked like the admiral (Kizaru) in One Piece, a 50-year-old uncle, and I had a psychological trauma.

I would like to ask Xiao Cheng, what was the opportunity for you to start playing badminton? Why did you fall in love with badminton? (RrebayHee-)
