Fajar ALFIAN


Character Introduction

Fajar Alfian (March 7, 1996) is an Indonesian male badminton player who specializes in the men’s doubles event.

In July 2013, Fajar Alfian represented Indonesia at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, winning the bronze medal in the team event with his team. In October of the same year, he represented Indonesia at the World Junior Badminton Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, where he won the silver medal in the team event with his team.

In August 2014, Faja Alfian played in the Indonesia Badminton International Challenge and won the men’s doubles title with Muhammad Rian Alianto.

In February 2015, Faja Alfian played in the Austrian Open Badminton Championships with Muhammad Rian Alianto and defeated Mathijs Dijks/Frick Golinski of Belgium 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) in the semi-finals. In the final, defeated Peter Briggs/Tom Wolfenden of England 2-1 (23-21, 18-21, 21-19) to win the men’s doubles title.

In October 2016, Faja Alfran and Mohammad Rian Alianto played in the Chinese Taipei Badminton Masters, defeating Singapore’s Koh Yong Kay/Lok Kian Hian, 3-2 (6-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-8), in the semi-finals. In the final, the team narrowly defeated the tournament’s No. 1 seed Chen Honglin/Wang Qi Lin of Chinese Taipei 3-2 (11-6, 11-6, 11-13, 9-11, 12-10) to win their first Grand Prix title.

In August 2018, Faja Alfran represented Indonesia at the Asian Games badminton tournament held in his home country, helping the Indonesians win the men’s team silver medal in the first team event.
He and Muhammad Rian Alianto played in the men’s doubles, and they breezed past Khuvituguldur Byambajav/Batdavaa Munkhbat of Mongolia 2-0 (21-4, 21-7) in the first round; and in the second round, put in an impressive performance to beat Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae of South Korea, who were newcomers to the sport, 2-0 (21-18, 21-13); In the quarterfinals, they defeated Malaysia’s Wang Yao Xin/Zhang Yuyu in straight sets 2-0 (21-17, 21-13); in the semifinals, they defeated China’s Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen in three sets 2-1 (21-14, 19-21, 21-13), locking up the right to be crowned finalists of the event for the hosts in advance and showing the long-lasting advantage of owning the event.

On October 17, 2021, the Indonesian team of Alfrán, along with Jinting, Alianto and Jonatan, won the Thomas Cup badminton team final with a 3-0 victory over China.

On January 16, 2023, Alfian partnered Adianto in the Malaysian Open men’s doubles final and won their first Super 1000 men’s doubles title with a 21-18, 18-21, 21-13 victory over Leong Wee Klang/Wang Chang.

In March 2023, Alfian partnered Adianto in the All England Badminton Open and won his first All England Men’s Doubles title with a 21-17, 21-14 victory over teammates Ashan/Hendra in the final.

On March 17, 2024, Fajar Alfian partnered Muhammad Rian Adianto in the All England Open Men’s Doubles final, defeating Malaysian duo Tse Ting Fong/Su Wei Yip 21-16, 21-16 to successfully defend their All England Open Men’s Doubles title.
