An Se Young
Character Introduction
Ahn Se Young (Korean: 안세영, February 5, 2002), is a South Korean female badminton player.She was named to the South Korean national team in 2018, becoming the first badminton player in history to be named to the South Korean national team as a high school student.
In July 2017, Ahn Chae-young represented the South Korean team at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she won the gold medal in the first mixed team event, and in the individual event, Ahn Chae-young clashed with Thailand’s Padarasuda Chaiwan, the No. 3 seed in the opening round, and the two sides engaged in a fierce battle to finally defeat her opponent, 1-2 (22-20, 18-21, 12-21). She was defeated 1-2 (22-20, 18-21, 12-21). In October of the same year, she once again represented the Korean team in the World Junior Badminton Championships held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where the Korean team won the bronze medal; and in the individual tournament, in the fourth round, she met the No. 1 seed of the tournament, Thailand’s Padrasuda Chaiwan, and the two sides ushered in their second match, but she lost to the opponent by 1-2 (20-22, 21-9, 20-22), as well.
Debuting on the international stage in New Zealand in her freshman year of high school, Ahn Wash-Ying won the title in New Zealand in 2019 as a 2nd-year student at Gwangju Sports High School, in addition to winning the Canadian Open. Its ranking rose from 99th in the world to 16th in the world.
On October 27, 2019, the French Open, the 2019 WTF Super 750 event, began with the finals of each individual event. The women’s singles final was contested between South Korea’s Ahn Chae-young and Spain’s Olympic champion Marin, and Ahn Chae-young won her career’s highest title to date, defeating Marin 21-18, 21-5 after dropping a set 16-21. 2002-born Ahn Chae-young became the first teenager to win a BWF high-level tournament. With this, her world ranking has risen to world No. 11.
On November 24, 2019, the 2019 BWF Super 300 Korea Masters Tournament started the final of each individual event, and in the women’s singles final, Ahn Chae-Ying defeated compatriot Sung Ik-Hyun 21-13, 21-17 to win her fifth title of the season.On December 9, the results of the BWF Best of the Year were released, and 17-year-old Ahn Chae-Ying was awarded the Most Potential Player of the Year award.On April 3, 2020, Ahn Chae-Ying was named as a finalist for the BWF World Championships, and she was named as a finalist for the BWF World Championships. On April 3, 2020, Ahn was named to Forbes’ 2020 Asia’s Top 30 Under 30 list of young celebrities in sports and culture.
On November 21, 2021, Ahn won the women’s singles final of the Indonesia Masters (Super 750) on the Badminton World Tour, defeating Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-19. On November 28, Ahn won the women’s singles final of the Indonesia Open (Super 1000), defeating Thailand’s Rachael Inthanon 21-17, 22-20 in straight sets, claiming her first career Super 1000 title. On December 5, An won her first career Super 1000 title, winning two consecutive tournaments “back to back”. On December 5, An won the women’s singles final of the Badminton World Tour Finals, defeating Pusarla Venkata Sindhu 21-16, 21-12 to win the title.
In May 2022, the 2022 Thomas & Uber Cup would start in Bangkok, Thailand, and Ahn Chae-Young represented Korea and eventually won the 2022 Uber Cup with Korea.
In January 2023, Ahn reached the finals of three consecutive tournaments to start the year, defeating Akane Yamaguchi at the Malaysian Open, and then defeating Akane Yamaguchi and Marin at the India Open and Indonesia Masters to win the title.
In March 2023, An Shuiying won her first career All England Women’s Singles title, defeating Olympic champion Chen Yufei 2-1 in the final.
In August 2023, An Chuiying played in the World Badminton Championships and swept Spain’s Marin 21-12,21-10 in the women’s singles final, becoming the first post-00 women’s singles champion in history.
In October 2023, An Chuiying competed in the Hangzhou Asian Games badminton tournament, winning the women’s singles final with a 21-18, 17-21, 21-8 victory over Chen Yufei to win the title, bringing her 30th consecutive victory in the badminton world to win her 10th title of the season.
