Denmark to Host the 2025 European Championships
Denmark will host the 2025 European Championships, welcoming Europe’s top badminton talent to the city of Horsens.
This marks the first time since 2017 that Denmark, known for its strong sports culture, will host the European Individual Championships. The event is returning to Denmark following the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships in Copenhagen and successful tournaments in Højbjerg in 1996 and 2008.
The championships will be held at the Horsens Sports and Event Center.
Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) President Sven Serré expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to award the hosting rights for the European Individual Championships to Denmark. Denmark is a leading badminton nation with passionate fans, and we look forward to strong support from the audience. With Denmark’s extensive experience in hosting major championships, as we saw at the 2023 World Championships in Copenhagen, we are confident this will be a highly successful event.”
Danish Badminton Association President Kristian Petersen is equally optimistic about the event, stating: “It’s fantastic to host the European Championships on home soil in 2025. This aligns perfectly with our long-term goal of bringing more badminton championships to Denmark. Denmark performed exceptionally well at the recent European Championships in Germany, and we certainly hope to achieve even greater success next year at home.”
The Horsens city government is also excited about the upcoming event and eagerly anticipates welcoming fans, coaches, and players from across Europe to the city in 2025.
The 2025 European Championships will take place in the 15th week (April 7-13), although specific dates are yet to be confirmed. Ticket sales will begin later this year, coinciding with the VICTOR Denmark Open.
