Kong Hee Yong
Character Introduction
Kong Hee-yong (Korean: 공희용, December 11, 1996) is a South Korean female badminton player.
In October 2013, Kong Hee-yong participated in the World Junior Badminton Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand, helping the national youth team win the mixed team title.
In February 2014, Kong Hee-yong participated in the Asian Junior Badminton Championships held in Taipei, Taiwan, helping the National Youth Team win the second place in the Mixed Team in the first team event, while in the single event, she was defeated by China’s Huang Kaixiang/Chen Qingchen in the Mixed Doubles final 0-2 (14-21, 13-21), ultimately winning the second place.
In July 2019, Kong Hee-yong and Kim Cho-yeong played in the Japan Open Badminton Championships, and celebrated a higher level Super 750 women’s doubles title in their careers by sweeping the tournament’s top seeded, world No. 1 and World Champions Matsumoto/Matsuki Nagahara/Wakona in the women’s doubles final, 2-0 (21-12, 21-12).
In July 2021, she and Kim Cho-Young competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Badminton Women’s Doubles Tournament, finishing second in Group D and defeating the Japanese duo of Matsumoto/Matsuo Nagahara/Wakona, 2-1 (21-14, 14-21, 28-26), before falling to the Chinese duo of Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan in the quarterfinals, 0-2 (15-21, 11-21), and then in the Bronze Medal match, 2-0 (21-21, 14-21). In the bronze medal match, they defeated teammates Li Shaoxi/Shin Seung-chan 2-0 (21-10, 21-17) to win the bronze medal.
In March 2023, Kong Hee-yong and Kim Cho-yeong teamed up for the All England Badminton Open and won their first All-England Women’s Doubles title, defeating teammates Lee Sau-hee/Baek Ha-na 2-0 in the final.
