Petya Nedelcheva

Character Introduction

Petya Nedeltcheva is a Bulgarian badminton player.

In 2004, Nedeltcheva represented Bulgaria at the Athens Olympic Games, where she eliminated Denmark’s Tine Bowen and South Korea’s Seo Yun-hee in the women’s singles event before losing to China’s Zhou Mi, 0-2 (4-11, 1-11), in the third round. She also played with veteran Neli Boteva in the women’s doubles event, but lost to the English player in the first round.

In 2008, Nedeltcheva represented Bulgaria in the women’s singles badminton event at the Beijing Olympics, defeating Swedish and Egyptian players to advance to the third round, before losing to Malaysia’s Huang Miaozhu 0-2 (16-21, 8-21).

In 2012, Nedeltcheva represented Bulgaria in the women’s singles badminton event at the Olympic Games in London, England, for her third Olympic appearance. In the group stage, she won 2-0 against Alessia Zaitseva of Belarus before losing 0-2 to Adrianti Firdausari of Indonesia, finishing second in the group with one win and one loss.

In August 2013, Nedeltcheva competed at the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China. On the first day of the tournament, she played in the women’s doubles event with Imogen Bankier of Scotland, but lost 1-2 (21-18, 18-21, 16-21) to Nalisaipa Ram/Sararalee Sangsongkam of Thailand in the first round. She also played in the women’s singles event, defeating Russia’s Natalia Peminova 2-0 in the first round, but fell to 11th-seeded Eriko Hirose of Japan 1-2 (21-11, 16-21, 18-21) in the second round.
