Chris Langridge is an English male badminton player. Inspired by his school teacher and county team coach, Jackie Cunningham, Chris began playing badminton at the age of 10 and represented his country for the first time at the age of 12. He later attended Therefield School in Leatherhead, where he helped the school win the national championship twice.
In February 2011, Chris won the Austrian International Challenge men’s doubles title with veteran Anthony Clark. In 2012, Chris began partnering with Peter Mills in men’s doubles, reaching the semifinals in the Austrian International Challenge, Belgian International, and Danish International. They won their first title in September at the Czech International. In November of the same year, the duo reached the final of the Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold men’s doubles, ultimately losing to a German pair with a score of 0-2 (15-21, 11-21), marking his career’s best performance to date.
In August 2013, Chris participated in the World Badminton Championships held in Guangzhou, China, with Peter Mills in the men’s doubles event. They advanced in the first round with a 2-0 victory over a Hong Kong pair but were eliminated in the second round with a score of 0-2 (7-21, 20-22) against the 4th seed, Japan’s Takuya Fukushima/Kenichi Hayakawa.
Additionally, Chris has consistently partnered with Heather Olver in mixed doubles. In 2012, they won the Czech International and finished as runners-up in the Belgian International and Welsh International. Their consecutive achievements earned them a spot in the mixed doubles event at the 2013 World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round with a score of 1-2 (20-22, 21-13, 13-21) against Sweden’s Nico Ruponen/Amanda Hogstrom. In October of the same year, they reached the final of the London Grand Prix Gold mixed doubles, finishing as runners-up with a score of 0-2 (19-21, 14-21) against a German pair, setting their best record.
