Astrup/ Rasmussen lost the semi-final – and will compete for the bronze medal
Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen made it through to the quarter-finals of the so-called “Group of Death” after a superb performance. Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark had their Olympic winning streak come to an end.
Their semifinal opponent was Li Yang/Wang Qilin, the defending Olympic champion from Chinese Taipei, who won 21-10 in the third set to secure their place in the final.
This means that Denmark’s World Championships silver medallist will fight for the Olympic bronze medal against Aaron Chia/Soh Wei Yi (Singapore), while the Olympic champion will fight for the Olympic gold medal against Leong Wei Geng/Wang Chang (China) in the final.
